Brett brings more than 15 years of experience in the Hospitality and Meeting Planning industries to his current position as Director of Sales & Marketing at Sundial Beach Resort & Spa. After graduating college with a Finance degree, he started out his career working at American Express Financial Advisors. After a long stint in Financial Planning, he became a Cluster Sales Manager for Marriott Hotels & Resorts, followed by a position in Cluster Sales for the Hiltons of Chicago and then escaped to warmer weather for a new position at the Sanibel Harbour Marriott Resort in Ft. Myers, Florida.
After years of Hotelier experience, Brett accepted a Financial Planning position with Merrill Lynch but not much time passed before the longing to return to the hospitality industry eventually found him. Missing the industry and the friendships made over the years, Brett decided to move on to a position at Walt Disney World where he oversaw the six Four-Diamond resorts and parks. His extensive experience in all aspects of sales, marketing, strategic account management, revenue management, recruitment and development of sales professionals all contribute to his industry knowledge and ability to service his clients.
Now one of the key members of the Sundial team, Brett’s responsibilities include leading the Sales team and supporting Sundial’s strategic account and revenue management to ensure the continued growth, overall strategy and direction of the resort. Outside of work, Brett has a passion for Relay for Life and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, where he not only volunteers but also makes monthly donations. He also enjoys going to the gym, fishing, golfing, football, participating in the Cannondale bicycle club and being an active member of a Southwest Florida political action committee.

DAVID IRWIN

David first began his career in the Food & Beverage industry in Iowa at age fifteen, and at just eighteen, became the proud owner of a restaurant and bar. After moving to Tampa, Florida in 1983, David got his start in the Hospitality industry with a position in Food & Beverage at the Lincoln Hotel. Stemming from there, he became a member of the opening teams for Hyatt Westshore Tampa, Hyatt Key West and Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa in 1988.
In 2001, David shifted from Food & Beverage to the Sales side of the industry and is now an important member of the Sundial staff as Sales and Conference Services Manager. With extensive experience in both of these areas, David’s expertise ensures that the needs and expectations of group guests are not only met, but exceeded.
With his familiarity of the area combined with his passion for boating and staying out on the water, David was very excited to join the Sundial team and finally be working at a beautiful beachfront resort after his almost 30 years in the business. Even though David still has a boat and enjoys getting out on the water occasionally, these days most of his spare time is spent renovating houses and supporting the Animal Refuge Center (ARC) in Lee county, the only privately-funded no-kill facility in the area that houses over 400 animals.

ALICIA WENTURINE

Having been born and raised in the Ft. Myers area, Alicia has many wonderful memories of visiting Sundial as a young child with her family. Now having recently moved back to the area, she shares with everyone her excitement to be back on the island as well as her enthusiasm taking on the position of Catering Sales Manager at the resort. Coming to Sundial with over 10 years in the industry, Alicia has become an essential member of our team and a valuable resource for our guests.

Alicia’s experience in the hospitality industry began at a young age when she took her first job as a restaurant hostess, over time working her way up to lead server and bartender. She then moved on to attend Florida Gulf Coast University where she received a degree in Hospitality with a minor in Marketing and concentration in Event Management. While attending FGCU, Alicia held a variety of internships, including positions at the Hyatt Coconut Point, Grey Oaks Country Club and Eventz Inc.

Her professional career began in 2010 when she accepted the position of Wedding Specialist at South Seas Resort, where she stayed for a year and a half. Then in 2011, she relocated to Washington DC where she worked for the Hotel Palomar as Catering Coordinator as well as at Le Meridien as an Executive Meetings Manager for the Corporate and Government Markets. Her final career move before coming home to South Florida was in 2012 when she moved to the Detroit-Metro area to work as the Catering Director for Chartwells at the Cranbrook Educational Community.

PAM FIELDS

With nearly two decades of expertise in group sales behind her, Pam joined the Sundial team in December of 2013 as the resort’s Sales Manager. Her impressive background and credentials attest to her skills as an effective leader of the sales team and she is a true asset to the resort.

In her position, Pam also serves as manager of the Florida State Association market, a territory she is familiar with after 18 years as Associate Director of Sales at Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa plus service to the former Registry Resort & Spa in Naples, Florida.

Pam has been a board or committee member for just about every professional association serving the hotel industry, including the FSAE – Florida Society of Association Executives, where she was named “Associate of the Year” for the State of Florida. She also received the “Distinguished Achievement in Sales & Marketing” award from the Hotel Sales & Marketing Institute and the CHME (Certified Hospitality Marketing Executive) designation, one of only a handful in the U.S. In recent years, Pam has indulged her love for dogs working as a professional dog trainer.

JULIO MORALES

Director of Services

Julio Morales comes to the Sundial Beach Resort & Spa with a wealth of knowledge in resort operations.When he and his family relocated to the United States, he quickly found his calling in the hospitality industry while working at a small Inn in Melbourne, Florida.Relocating to Orlando, Julio was part of the Doubletree Hotel team in Downtown Disney where he met his wife Amy. Julio’s career progressed and included positions as Director of Operations for Casa Ybel on Sanibel Island, and Director of Housekeeping Services at Palm Coast’s Hammock Beach Resort & Spa. His position at Hammock Beach provided him with extensive experience in all aspects of Front Desk, Housekeeping, Owner Services and Condo Association relations, giving him an edge to be successful in all aspects of hotel operations.Missing the Gulf Coast, Julio saw an opportunity to return to Southwest Florida where both of his children were born and where his family had always called home. He was involved in several projects including the opening of the Hotel Indigo in downtown Fort Myers where he was General Manager, and as Assistant Manager at the Holiday Inn Gulf Coast Town Center.

Julio has a passion not only for the industry but for every member of his team. As Director of Services, Julio’s responsibilities include managing the day to day operations in Housekeeping, the Front Office, Activities, and working with Owner Services and both Sundial Condominium Associations.

Outside of work, Julio spends most of his time coaching his children’s baseball and basketball teams and also enjoys fishing any chance he gets.

MARINA BLOETZ

Assistant Director of Services

Marina hails from Munich, Germany and often visited these beautiful islands as a young girl with dreams of living here with her own family someday. Moving to the United States, her hospitality career began in 2007 as the Front Office Supervisor at the Hyatt Regency at Reunion in Dallas, Texas and began her career with Sundial Beach Resort & Spa in December of 2009 where she now holds the title of Assistant Director of Services.

Reminiscing, Marina shares “From the beginning of my hospitality career, I wanted to become involved in creating wonderful memories for guests. My first position working at the front desk in the Resort Centre enabled me to improve my English language skills. From there, I moved on to work as the Catering Sales Manager and Certified Wedding Planner that opened up further opportunities to become involved in the community.” Now the Assistant of Director Services, Marina is entrusted with a wide array of responsibilities that she handles with the utmost professionalism and service, ensuring all guests enjoy the quality experience they have come to expect from the “Best Full-Service Resort” on Sanibel & Captiva Islands.

Marina, whose studies in Germany focused on Hospitality and Catering, brings enthusiasm and extensive experience from her previous positions and training in Reservations, Catering, Food & Beverage and Housekeeping. Impressively, Marina has also received certificates in Psychology, Event and Wedding Planning, as well as Modern Advertising and Marketing from the BAW Academy in Munich, Germany.

KEVIN SNYDERS

Director of Activities

Our energetic Director of Activities has a passion for sports and recreation, tracing back to his youth when he was heavily involved in the local park programs in his hometown of Chicago. Kevin graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale with a degree in Commercial Recreation and Tourism and took an internship with Royal Caribbean International. At the conclusion of the internship, Kevin was offered a position with Royal Caribbean Cruises as a member of the Cruise/Entertainment division where he traveled to thirty different countries on eighteen different ships.
With a wealth of guest service experience garnered from the cruise industry, Kevin moved to the Jacksonville area and accepted a position as Guest Entertainment & Activities Manager at the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa in Ponte Vedra Beach. Responsible for planning and executing all recreational activities, Kevin oversaw children’s programming, group events, holiday and social events, and ecological programs as well as daily activities.
Kevin enjoys the beautiful scenery that Sanibel affords and the overall friendliness found on the island. When he’s not planning fun activities and recreation for our guests, he’s out enjoying the local fishing spots.

PAUL CUPPY

Director of Food and Beverage

Paul brings 38 years of experience to his position as Sundial’s Director of Food & Beverage.Beginning as a dishwasher, Paul climbed the ladder through many industry positions giving him the first-hand experience needed to lead our service team. Paul’s mission and passion is in providing our guests with an exemplary dining experience while exceeding expectations.

Paul’s career began at Denver’s Brown Palace Hotel where he was employed in several capacities. Following a move to Florida, Paul helped open several new restaurants and served as Maître d’ at the Gainesville Hilton. Relocating to Southwest Florida, Paul was Restaurant Manager at Burnt Store Marina in Punta Gorda for several years. At Sanibel Harbour Resort, he managed multiple resort outlets and later served as Banquet Director.

Paul arrived at Sundial as Food & Beverage Manager, and was subsequently promoted to his current position as Director where he oversees all restaurant, banquet, and group dining operations. In addition to his hotel background, Paul’s resume also includes Country Club and Convention Center experience.

In his spare time, Paul enjoys spending time with his family, enjoying our beautiful beaches, and walking country trails.

CRISS MENASSA

Executive Chef

Criss Menassa, a seasoned professional chef with more than 17 years of service to guests at Southwest Florida’s leading restaurants, returned to the area to join the Sundial team as the resort’s new Executive Chef in December of 2013.

Raised in New England, her culinary interests were fueled and inspired by her large Mediterranean family, resulting in strong New England and Mediterranean influences. Having risen through the culinary ranks through influence and training by some of the finest chefs in several states, she has earned praise from her fellow peers as well as culinary audiences coast to coast.

Prior to taking on her new position at Sundial, Criss served at the Wild Dunes Resort in South Carolina, the Heritage Palms Golf and Country Club in Fort Myers and at Pink Shell Beach Resort on Fort Myers Beach. The majority of her culinary experience in Fort Myers was acquired at Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa. She has cooked for many celebrities including actress Goldie Hawn and Sopranos star James Gandolfini. Her greatest joy comes from pleasing people through her extraordinary culinary skills.

Erica Cossairt

Director of Tennis

Erica Cossairt joins the team at Sundial as our Director of Tennis after several years in nearby Cape Coral as Director of Tennis at the Cape Coral Racquet Club. She joins us as a respected professional of the Cape Coral Yacht Club and Royal Tee Golf Club. Her extensive tennis experience includes starting several successful junior and adult instructional programs, organizing a number of social tennis activities and tournaments, and coaching adult USTA and local teams from regular season thru post-season play. Her experience also includes programs like Cardio Tennis, Junior Development Coaching, and the USTA’s 10-and Under instructional method. In addition, Erica owns Gulf Coast Tennis and Fitness, which services all of Lee County.

As part of her role as a tennis professional, Erica has learned to motivate participants and she truly enjoys developing players. Erica is both a certified USPTA Tennis Professional and a certified Personal Trainer, allowing her to offer a unique set of skills to players participating in lessons and classes at Sundial. She regularly plays both women’s singles and doubles competitively and has participated in the Fort Myers Pro-League. Her passion for sports and competition doesn’t stop there… Erica also studies martial arts including karate, kickboxing and ju-jitsu, and often runs 5k/10k and half marathon races for charity – including a 100 mile team race from Key Largo to Key West. Her next challenge is a full marathon followed by a Triathlon.

Erica moved to South Florida in 1993 from Northern Virginia and pursued a very successful career in commercial business sales before she decided to leave sales to make her long-time passion for tennis into a rewarding career. She currently lives in Cape Coral with her son, Jacob. When Erica isn’t teaching tennis, she can be found running the beautiful beaches of Sanibel, biking, kickboxing or another challenging and in-motion activity.
