Sundial Beach Resort & Spa Conservation Efforts Recognized

DATE: July 1, 2016

Sanibel Island’s rolling Gulf waters express a stylish tone, blue and brilliantly subtle. The miles of pristine beaches speak delicate, simple beauty with outrageous fortes of visual grandeur. And the breeze runs clear, strong and proud: this is the world that surrounds Sundial Beach Resort & Spa.

We at Sundial Beach Resort & Spa take special pride in nature’s wonderful offerings here in Southwest Florida. That’s why we work hard to incorporate conservation efforts and institute sustainability practices that are the envy of our industry peers. Sundial Beach Resort & Spa conservation efforts are top priorities.

Late last year the Florida Department of Environmental Protection saluted our commitment to maintaining a “green” resort that reflects the environment’s natural resources.

The department’s Florida Green Lodging Program designates and recognizes lodgings which score high in waste reduction, water conservation, energy efficiency, indoor air quality and education initiatives.

The program’s guidelines help direct the hospitality industry to examine its operations, set goals and establish action plans. Sundial Beach Resort & Spa, in particular, was noted for its energy-efficient lighting and its linen  programs. We also use locally sourced food at our three restaurants. We take pride in our Sundial Beach Resort & Spa conservation efforts.

“We are extremely proud to have received this designation,” said Phillip Starling, general manager at Sundial Beach Resort & Spa. “Preserving the natural resources and wildlife of Sanibel Island is so important to us and the surrounding community. Our green and sustainable practices attract guests and improve our overall operations.”

The designation lasts three years. Florida’s DEP makes regular assessments and requires the submission of environmental performance data every year.
